The 2016 CitizenCon presentation will be tonight at 11pm UK time if you want to stay up watching it:
https://www.twitch.tv/starcitizen
Or just wait for me to post the good bits tomorrow morning.
Here's a Polaris Class Corvette, if you have a spare £500 - £600 or so.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Good thing you didn't stay up, Hinkel - as it was delayed for an hour.
The presentation as a whole was a bit weak as the Squadron 42 stuff wasn't shown as apparently it wasn't ready - so no Squadron 42 release this year, though I don't think anyone really expected that at this stage.
The procedural planets demo was good though, looks very high detail considering it's the whole world!
Best skip to 1 hour 25 mins, unless you like Powerpoint presentations about forums.
Roadmap for 2017:
3.1: Mining, Refueling, Interdiction, Escort
3.2: Salvage, Repair, Mercenary 'Covert Ops'
3.3: Farming, Rescue
4.0: Multiple Systems, Exploration, Science and Research

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
They'll also release a piece of software that will act as communication platform both in-game and IRL. Its main focus will be to give more communication power to player organisations, the ability to create parties for sessions/missions, send live notifications, availability on smartphones etc.
It will be bundled together with the new game launcher which will also have selective downloads when a new update is released.
These are the 'weak' parts of the presentation, it really felt like we were watching a press conference for the release of a new Linux distribution or smth.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Presumably the Spectrum (the communication platform) bit was filler for the lack of Squadron 42 footage, as it's not the sort of thing they'd usually show in a big live stream presentation.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
I didn't listen to the whole thing, just the footage of the planet. I think they've clearly been watching Star Wars an awful lot!....Tuscan Raiders, Sarlacc Monsters, Speeder bikes, flying through Star Destroyer Wreckage etc etc. Not a complaint, you can't go wrong with star wars in my opinion.
I love the view of thePort Olisar from the planet, and knowing you can get in a ship and fly up there.
I think it's starting to look vey impressive, and I can't wait for all the pieces of the 'jigsaw' to be put together.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
It's funny, when we were watching it live, Razy and I had a conversation along the lines of:
Razy: How do you know if it's really a distress beacon and not just a trap?
Me: That's why you take a gun with you.
Me: It's probably Tusken Raiders (as a joke, because it's like a canyon on Tatooine).
then about 10 seconds later the legally different Tusken Raiders turn up.

According to this the Squadron 42 Demo was going to be over an hour, so I guess that Spectrum thing was entirely filler.

Good news, Planetary Outposts:
Now you can live out your Childhood dreams of being Luke Skywalker, stuck on some crappy planet in a crappy house, watching the day/night cycle go by.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
As you wanted to know what a Battleship would look like:
Second from the top is a Bengal Class Carrier, which is the biggest one in the video, the one at the top is a Retribution Class Dreadnought.
The one at the bottom is a Vanduul Kingship.
Presumably there's also a standard Battleship similar to the size of the Bengal and the Kingship, with the Retribution being the Star Citizen version of a Super Star Destroyer.

Apparently the Origin ships are for middle aged Pilots, Speedy - make of that what you will.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
I don't know if anyone is interested, but EVE Online has gone free-to-play. The Alpha (non-paying) accounts are quite restricted, but still generous enough for exploring most of what the game has to offer.
I've started playing again.

i was thinking about it but eve needs loads of time investment to actually make it work. Time is something i do not have as most of my gaming time goes to our squadnights

I do like how originally that presenter character was on 'Galactic Gear' during the M50 commercial, but for some unknown reason is now on the Voyager Direct original 'Galactic Tour'.
As for EvE, I might have a look - though it didn't keep my interest last time I tried it.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Aye, probably for the best if you have a download limit, as they also patch it pretty much every day!
From what I've played of it, I'm not sure about the flight changes as they've cut the speeds in half (my Gladius does 160 m/s now - so it's in Spitfire / Hurricane territory.
Though the afterburner pushes it up to 800 m/s, so you can still get around.
They seem to change the way the thrusters work with each patch though, so will see how it goes - but I feel the need, the need - for speed!
Star Marine is good from a mechanics point of view, i.e. the way the weapons feel, movement, etc - but I'm not a fan of the game mode they've chosen, as it's too arcadey and fast action for an apparently tactical shooter, but the foundation is certainly there.
One good thing about the PTU is you can test all the ships, the Caterpillar is very fancy!
