Re: Friday Flight Night 7:30pm BST
How did you find the Sopwith Scout then, Speedy?
Sorry about not seeing that Albie on your six by the way, at first I thought it was Hinkel in his Pup as I saw two cons behind me and presumed it was you two - then I heard Hinkel say that he had an Albatros behind him, and double checked the con behind you and saw it was an Albatros, but then presumed that the Pup behind me was actually Hinkel (as he was a Pup with an Albatros behind him) so thought the Pup behind me knew there was an Albatros behind him, as I thought it was Hinkel - but it turns out Hinkel actually under our tails, with a completely different Albatros on him.
I'll have to practice my aircraft identification some more!
And pfft! I had it under control the whole time!
I wasn't worried or nuffink!

Lol! it's been a long weekend!
I real liked the pup, very responsive and stable..could be a new favourite!
Yeah, I think those two albie caught us cold, I had stopped looking for cons and was looking to form up to head west so wasn't watching my own six at the time.

Re: Friday Flight Night 7:30pm BST
we were to concentrated on those juici 2 seaters. so after hearing the machine guns blasting ( damaging my wing ) I noticed the albi on my 6. and failed to shake him. It was not able to confirm where i was and i had to give it all my strenght to keep evading him. in the heat of the moment i did not think about firing flare to show my position. also the tripe was chasing the albi so was hoping he would shoot it down before i got killed.
it were very skilled central power pilots that killed us so we can t feel that bad

Here's the video of the main Pup dogfight from last night:
Think I put a few rounds into the tail of that Triplane, daft sod.
Funny what you can see when you have the external view - like how Speedy and I couldn't see Hinkel with his Albatros, yet he was right behind us under our tails. Also interesting to note that Speedy didn't get shot down - the Albatros flew right through him!
By the way I haven't forgotten about the video clips from that day when we had 4 online, I'll get around to it eventually!

Granted, he'd already hit my engine and I had oil spewing all over the place, but to finish me off by chopping my pup into pieces with his prop, and promptly flying away is a little harsh. I thought that was just a WWII online axis tactic!

At the time I thought he'd just shot you down, so I let him make an emergency landing (what with being a good and proper british flying person and that), obviously had I known he was such a dastardly cur I would have landed and apprehended him with my Webley.

Been away since Friday chaps. I have to spend sometime with Mrs Speedy tonight, but hopefully I'll be around tomorrow either for WWII or ROF.

No SE5s in 1918?! No Pups in 1917?! S'a conspiracy I tells ya!
We were forced to fly the Sopwith Dolphin and the SPAD VII, the two Aircraft we're supposed to fly anyway! Damn them all!

Re: Friday Flight Night 7:30pm BST
yes to bad
not a very good evening for me. Destroyed the engine of the dolphin when we started attacking the first enemy so had to abort.
2 nd flight time was up and got killed try to land this crate.
Think in total I managed to destroy my engine 3 times . Guess I have to get used to this game again and keep more eyes on my RPM. Alltough 2 times it broke when I just started a very shallow dive so the RPM could have gone up that fast.
Is it possible it brakes due to the mixture settings? I usaly keep adding when I go higher to maintain the same RPM.

Don't think mixture setting effects if the engine stops working (though obviously if you have a mixture setting for high altitude then dive lower you have to adjust the mixture or it won't be right for your new altitude so the engine might run badly.)
Usually when I go into a diving attack I cut the throttle completely to make sure I don't over-rev, usually in full dives the Aircraft speeds up to near critical speed all by itself anyway, so no need to have the engine running at high throttle as well.
Then if I do find I'm not going fast enough (such as coming out of the dive or diving at a lesser angle) I slowly creep up the RPM to make sure it stays under the over-rev RPM - best to start with low RPM and increase it than start with too much RPM and decrease it before the engine blows itself up.

the thing is that the engine broke ( oil on the face ) when just started the dive and was pushing the stick slightly forward so the RPM could not be going up that fast.

Could have been engine overheating perhaps, I find the Dolphins are a bit twitchy and change temperature a lot depending on radiator position.
