FLIGHT 07/11/40

Luton was vectored towards Hastings to provide high altitude cover while other squadrons would attack an inbound raid. A little off shore we encountered about 4 109's chasing after a single hurricane flying about 8k feet lower. I followed sdrn ldr dixon down towards the rear 2 109. Dixon took out the right one while i went on to the rear left one. I fired a short burst into the 109 and saw hits on the fusulage and left wing which caused 2 small fires on the wing. The 109 immedialty started to loose altitude fast and i left it alone as it looked like it would not recover. I proceeded to the next 109 and caused minor damage to this one.
at this time sqdrn leader dixon destroyed a 2nd 109 and a hurricane from another sqaudron joined the fight. As my squadron members were forming up I dissengaged and formed up with others again. After this fight tophat orders us to rearm and refuel at home base
