Leading the flight for 19 Squadron was Squadron Leader Mattson, their primary role being the low sweep for German Fighters and Bombers. No. 121 Squadron was led by Squadron Leader Rivait, accompanied by Pilot Officer Sebesta and Pilot Officer Tankerd18.
