OK, so I installed the software, set up the hardware (it's TINY, too!), and tested it outside the game. Everythign seems tobe working, the camera is tracking my head movements nicely, got all the correct lights working.

I load the game, and the view tracking doesn't work. There must be something simple I am missing, but the manual that came with the unit doesn't tell me what to do to fix it.

If any of you have the TrackIR, and can tell me what I need to do to make it work, I'd be grateful. Crying or Very sad

Nope, that just lets me use mouse to look around.

I'm gonna go chek TrackIR forums for an answer.

Oh, OT forum is having a riot atm in WW2OL...much porn and related insanity. Cover the kids eyes if you visit it.

Acroyer

I am at work atm the moment so this is just from memory (which often fails me!)

You have to go into the in game keymapper and 'map' the Track IR movements by moving your head to the mouse look axis. Then pressing 'N' in game will toggle the track IR on off. If I remember correctly I had to map the up/down and left/right movements separately.

When I get back home I will check my settings to be sure and let you.

AHA!

That activated it, yes! I went to the keymapper and mapped the X and Y axis for mouselook, and now it works!

It's a little too sensitive in the center of view, I need to adjust it so that I can glance down at my keyboard without messing up my view, and I need to map a 'look behind me' key I think.

But overall its is MUCH better than using the joystick hatswitch! I can really track ground targets liek moving trucks much better now, this is great.

to help you get used to it, try and do a barrel roll over a building and keep the building in view.

ah, this is going to be excellent!!

dont forget, soft hands acroyer, soft hands... you still can't see anything if you are blacking out... Very Happy

Excellent, you're up and running!

Do as Dojo says, practice keeping your eyes on a fixed point on the ground whilst looping, rolling and dancing with on hand on your head...(steady! dirty minds)

I have the 'N' key mapped to my joystick, so if the view goes awol I can switch it of and it re-centres.

Good luck!

It definitely works better in a fighter than in a bomber. I have to turn it off in the Havoc, but it works fine in Spit. In bomber it jumps around too much, probably because of the struts and panels all over the place.

Flew three missions in Havoc...crashed on first one, trying to get view to work right - had the 'center' hot key mapped to same as my TS 'push to talk' (oops). Figured it out, remapped the center key to F11.
Second and third mission worked well, bombed bridges for 60 points (now 533 of 750). Bombed enemy FB and MSP at Boz (its falling to Axis as I type this, they have a division shifted to the attack vs our 8 defenders....). No kills but hits on 3x panzer, an 88, an opel and a Pak. I must have been too high for infantry kills.

In real life, having an awful morning already, hope the day goes better, but I doubt it. Either today, tomorrow or Saturday (or some combination of the three) I will have to work overtime on a job that must be in Miami on Monday morning. I have to wait for the printers to print the giant signs, then I have to cut them all into shapes etc...I may be offline for a day or so (in game) because of it. To further increase myjoy, my wife found out last night that they are closing her company office down, and letting everyone go today or tomorrow, so shes upset (sigh). Fortunately I bought all my toys BEFORE this occured, so I am not as unhappy as I could be, LOL.

Anyway, see you fellows later today, I hope.

I notice that the movement of the view seems very fast.

When I look around, it kind of streaks around. Do you use a specific profile for yours, Speedy? Or are you using the "Default" one they have listed for WW2OL?

I have amended the smooth default profile with the 'motion control' speed sliders to edit all axis at once. Smooth mode ensures the tracking is exactly that and doesn't snap to a dead zone at the centre.

The speed slider is actually the ratio between actual and in game head movement, so higher the speed the less you have to move your head to change view but the faster it pans in game. Then it is just a case of trail and error with the setting to find what suits you best.

I'll post my setting later when I get home from work.

This is my profile for the yaw axis, though the pitch, roll etc are the same. I actually used the 'one to one' template not the 'smooth' as I said earlier.

In case it's not clear in the image the motion control sliders are set at: speed 2 smooth 40
