Re: Our first Combat Sortie
ROFL, Yes sorry bout that I will try not to do it again. At least not for a few days ;-) Now then, where exactly did I put my arrows of desire ?
BTW thats an odd looking film, any idea what it is ? Ah nvm seems its a mini series called A Piece Of Cake. Strange that I never saw it. Did u see that some of those Spits had cannons while others didnt and those 109s were the Buchon model which were built in Spain and had merlin engines ?
And anyway what were 6 Spits doing running away from a couple of 109s and a poop load of 111s. Im sure half that flight were French. AND we lasted longer than that mad guy too, well just about ;-)

Re: Our first Combat Sortie
It's from a mini-series called "Piece of Cake", can't say I've seen it myself - but there are a few clips of it on YouTube.
No doubt Dojo will have seen it, and read the book, and the sequel to the book.

I saw it when I was a young lad. Very good! They used real spitfires, but they had a Mk1a and a Mk IX if I remember rightly.
There was a really good scene where they fly one under a bridge, and they really did it with a vintage spitfire. crazy now, you wouldn't get away with it! Ray Hanna was the pilot (former red arrows chap) who also provided the aircraft for the series.
it is based on a book about the fictional Hornet Squadron, flying Hurricanes in france during the war I think, (and there is a sequel but I haven't read it , but I have read Goshawk Squadron about WW1 'Hornet' squadron by the same author)

Close enough.
Obviously the book would've been about Spitfires, but you see when it was written the Spits were invincible so they removed them from the spawn list.
