me and FLT LT speedy were ordered to take an early start to to try and intercept an outbound raid while Sqd ldr Dixon and PO Razy were still refuling. After a short flight Tophat made it clear that raid was allready feet wet and only could be straglers around. After meeting up with red 1 and 2 we started patroling along the coast towards dover and then towards southend. 5+ bandits were reported over dover at angles 27 and we diverted for intercept. We found the raiders near deal and it seemed it were a flight of 109's. After a short fight we dissengaged and reformed over Rochester. Being low on fuel we still wanted to continue our original patrol to southend as we were expecting some rainders to sneak trough that area.
Red 1 reported 2 inbound contact that could be bombers  just south of South end and send me and Red 3 to intercept. We closing in the bombers and saw that the 109's that we met earlier were also reformed and were escorting the bombers for very high altitude. By that time we only had visual on 1 bomber any more that tried to disengaged and made plenty of evasive maneuvers. After a few short passes the escorts were diving on us and we were orderd to dissangage. I had lost sights on speedy and was informed that he took damage from the escorts. Red 1 and Red 2 came in to save the day and managed to get rid of the 109's and even put one to flames. After dissengaging i saw that the bomber also diverted to same course as me and seeing no 109's i trailer to bomber for some time before engaging. When the ju88 reached the sea side it was leaking black and white fluid from 1 engine and I head for home and landed at home base.

Jolly good. Smile

I think the 109s we encountered North of Dover might have been a different flight to the ones over Southend, as on the stats it shows Speedy damaging a 109 from JG52 in the first one, and being damaged by a different 109 from JG52, then over Southend it was a 109 and Ju88 from JG4.
