First Kill
Finally.
Took off from Bruay in an SE5. Fed up of getting jumped by two or three or four bloody jerry, I managed to get some altitude and crossed the front line at about 9,000 feet. Spotted a german 2 seater above me heading west, so I chandelled round under him. As I got to about 100 yds from him, his rear gunner spotted me and he started to dive, but I managed to angle the lewis up and put some rounds in his wing and fuselage.
As he levelled off I peaked on my climb, so I was still under him as he turned and headed back east, but I managed to put a few more rounds in him before I saw tracers go over my top wing. He had an escort!
Luckily the escort must have been lower, as he tailed off as I turned back west, just in time to see the german 2-seater break up and fall to the ground.
The Albatross gave chase but my SE was too quick, and I left him behind as I dropped down over the friendly side of the line and RTB'd my rather stressed aircraft at an airfield just west of Bethune.
1 DFW kill confirmed!

Re: First Kill
Ah first kill, good show old man!
Gave that Hun two-seater a damn good thrashing eh, good to know their dastardly photo recon crate won't be able to return to sausage land with up to date info on our ground forces that haven't moved for the last three years!
Drinks are on you!
First Hun I bagged was an Albatros with my SPAD VII, came in at the Boche from above his 1 o'clock, fired a burst into his front and last I saw he was falling down through the clouds with a ball of fire where the engine should be.
