Employment into Service.
Hello there,
My name is Cortiz on the forums here, and will be the same ingame if I decide to play, I understand there is two sides of the game, Allied and Axis, Is the Americans and Japs involved? Anyways, I was wondering if I get the game up and running whether you guys could recruit me into service for the squadron. I haven't got alot of gaming experience, I'm just a cars salesman. I am started to get more interested into the knowledge of World War 2. I was searching for games and I saw this one, I tagged along and saw this game. I read it up, watch videos. Then I came across a very good video that was a team based squadron. This is what I would be looking for in a game. The one video I saw was of the 19th RAF doing Bombing and Spitfire missions, as a team.
I don't want to say my age, incase you guys are alot younger then me, I'll give you a clue, Twenty-(Something)
Thats around it for my recruitment request and how I got here. I will be downloading the game shortly. I understand if you had a joystick it would be easier? So I will go and buy one.
Regards,
Cortiz

Re: Employment into Service.
S!
greetings Cortiz, I'm the CO of this squad. I'm glad you found our videos enjoyable.
I'm assuming you have downloaded the game itself? you can get it from www.battlegroundeurope.com. We mainly fly Spitfires, with the odd Hurricane and Havoc mission thrown in too. You will definitely need a joystick, plus headphones and microphone as we use Teamspeak 3 to communicate with each other. (annoys the wife, but hey ).
I would recommend after you download the game setting up your joystick (a twisty rudder and throttle are recommended) and getting the hang of flying around, as it is a very steep learning curve - and if you are planning on using the free two week trial, it would be best to get that out of the way before you start paying for the game itself!
To answer your questions - there are three sides, French, British and German forces - the French and British are allied (of course), and fight against the Germans. The game is set roughly before the fall of France, around 1940, and the equipment used reflects this to some extent, although it changes as the campaign rolls on.
We are all relatively mature, 20's and 30's mainly, all UK/Europe based (we fly mainly GMT evenings, 8pm to 12am sort of time). We have a Portugese, a Danish and an Austrian pilot too not to mention the rest of us who are all english.
We can help you get up to speed with training etc, so give us a shout when you start your trial and I can organise some training with you!
S! and welcome to 19 Squadron RAF!

Re: Employment into Service.
I also forgot to mention the person who told me about WW20L. Some of you may know him, his name was Bonifatus or something I believe. He is my nephew in real life and I think you ought to know that he is now very strict. When I'm learning from him and say he says turn left and say I was to turn right by mistake, he would take over my joystick and rage. He acts like he knows everything so thats a bit annoying on my side of things. I have already flown with Yozz76 and Greg8888 or something. Sorry if I Made A mistake with the names at first. Sorry about that. I should be on tomorrow after work ands that about everthing. Regards

That was a rather large chunk of writing, I'll just shorten it down with key stuff. Basically Bonifatius is my nephew and has been teaching me to fly with him moaning along the way.

Re: Employment into Service.
Well hi Cortez.
Great t see another interested person.
I'll give you some noob info:
-Right now we are in a special mini-campaign, in which the birtish and the americans are fighting the germans. (thanks to our recent succes, we've been able to push far into germany)
-During the regular campaign, you have tiers of equipment. We start at tier 0, in which we only have the basic equipment (say pre-1939). Then, after a few ays of fighting (these campaigns can last months (in theory))we move on to tier 1, which would be more the 1940 kind of equipment. Then, in tier 2, we start getting better equipment, like the french start getting the Sherman tank (lendlease, americans get it to in mini-campaign). The, in tier 3, everyone gets the best equipment, which would be 1943, with some later equipment in it aswell. during this phase the germans get the monster Tiger-tank, which is not so nice when fighting wwith on the ground, but a big target from the air.
If you need any more info, I'm usually around 3pm GMT+1
