Greetings!
Hello all,
I saw the 19 Squadron recruitment thread in the forum of WWIIO, so I decided to pop in and say hi.
My name is Raz (or Razy in WWIIO) and I am 30 years old. I live in Manchester.
My flightsim experience goes back 15 years, ranging from old-school, hardcore stuff like "B-17 The Mighty 8th", "Jane's WWII Fighters" and "IL-2", to more fun games like "Crimson Skies" and "Combat Flight Simulator 3". I've also enjoyed the occasional tacky game along the way.
I've always been a loner, never really had anyone to talk to about flight sims or aviation in general. That means that I've never been part of any squadron / clan.
I've learned most of what I know empirically, or by reading online, and I am willing to be taught how to fly properly and follow procedures. My interest in aircraft types is all-encompassing, from single-engined fighters, twin-engined ones and 4-engined as well, with slight preference on the heavier types. As long as its Allied and not Axis, I'll fly it... I've grown out of my Luftwaffe phase.
Currently, I can play "WWII Online" and "Cliffs of Dover". At some point in the future I'll be looking to enter either "Star Citizen" or "Elite: Dangerous", as I have quit playing EVE online recently and want to play a space-related game.
I look forward to hearing from you guys.
Fly safe!
Razy

Re: Greetings!
Hi Raz, nice to meet you!
Nice to see someone else from the North West, I'm from Cumbria myself.
At the moment we're primarily a Cliffs of Dover based squadron, playing as part of the Storm of War Online Campaign, and unfortunately haven't played WW2OL for quite a while, though I see you said you also play Cliffs of Dover, so hopefully you still want to fly with us.
We mainly fly the single engine aircraft, primarily the Spitfire and also the Hurricane (if we run out of Spitfires), but also fly the Blenheim IV on medium altitude and low level attacks when needed (unfortunately the Blenheim is as heavy as it gets as far as the RAF is concerned, though there will be a flyable Wellington in the next patch, whenever that may be).
As I mentioned, most of our game time is spent on the Storm of War Online Campaign, which aims to be a recreation of the height of the Battle of Britain, taking part between a number of different online Squadrons (as well as AI Bomber formations), where each Squadron is assigned an Airfield to opperate from, with a limited number of Aircraft available, and includes things like Human Ground Controllers and Photo Recon flights, you can find more information about it here if you're interested:
Storm of War
As a Squadron we have two squad nights, which are Tuesday and Thursday evening, usually around 19:45 - 22:00 UK time, which are spent in Cliffs of Dover on the Storm of War Server - Thursday is the main night as it coincides with the most active time on the Storm of War Server, with up to 80+ players on the server, while Tuesday is usually our bombing night, though that has also increased in activity of late, so we sometimes have to take our fighters then as well.
Outside of those two nights we also often fly on Sunday evenings at the same time, though it's more of an open game night, usually we'll play Rise of Flight (a WWI Combat Flight Sim) on the Syndicate Realism Server, as Sunday is their most active night - but we also play things like Cliffs of Dover and Star Citizen, or even non-flight sims if the mood takes us.
We're also interested in Star Citizen, and already have a few ships in our hangars, though we're waiting for further development of the game in order to get into it properly, we do try flying there every now and again, though connection issues usually put a stop to that at this phase. We have signed up for an organisation in Star Citizen called the UEENR (United Earth Empire Naval Reserves), which is a group of military-oriented squadrons that plan to work together for mutual assistance with defence and logistics, etc - and operate as a larger force when needed, but it's still early days with that.
You mention that you're able to play Cliffs of Dover at the moment, are you aware of the Team Fusion mod? It's a crucial part of flying Cliffs of Dover Multiplayer, as it includes a number of improvements to the base game (which was in a pretty poor state after development ended) - and is used by most online groups in Cliffs of Dover (including Storm of War), if not then here's a guide to getting set up with that:
Team Fusion Mod Setup
I think that pretty much covers it - hopefully you're still interested after all that.
Usually when we're flying on Storm of War we'll be on the Storm of War TeamSpeak 3 Server, which is at:
IP= 85.236.101.5:10427
Password= stormofwar
We can be found in the 19RAF (LUTON) sub-channel in the Red Team Section - also feel free to add us on Steam if you wish, as then you'll be able to see when we're online, etc, my Steam name is: "19RAF MJDixon (QV-J)"
If you have any questions then feel free to post them here, or ask on Steam chat.
I look forward to hearing from you.

Re: Greetings!
Was good to fly with you tonight Raz, good job damaging a 109 on your first sortie, I hope you enjoyed it.
You should now have access to the other areas of the forum, but if not then let me know.

Re: Greetings!
Here's a link to the Cliffs of Dover visibility thread, Razy:
https://19squadron.darkbb.com/t1432-visibility
Should help increase the distance that clouds appear, and hopefully enemy aircraft too.

Hi Raz
A belated welcome to the squad from me as I've been touch for week or so and just catching up with the forum.
Good work tonight on bagging your first online kills. I look forward to flying with you again.
Good show and toodle pip!
