Tophat diverted us to Dungeness to meet up with other squadrons to intercept a large inbound raid with fighter cover. 19 squadron was ordered to provide cover for the Hurricanes who would be attacking bombers. We followed a friendly squadron towards to raiders and soon after the bombers were spotted, a few escorts were seen a little above them. Following red 1  we came on the tail of 2 109. Red 1 engaged the first one and I went to the second one giving it a 2 second burst after which a saw white smoke comming out of his engine. He continued to do evasive actions. I spend my remaining ammo to shoot it down and it started going into a small truning dive towards the deck. My ammo spend and with no sight on my squadron team mates I head over to Canterbury to rearm and refuel. After rearming I tried to lift again but noticed something was wrong and aborted the take off. I found that 1 tire run flat and as there was no tire available on this airfield I had to leave the plane on the ground until new spare parts would arrive.

I noticed with your 109 that quite a few of the bursts were aimed a bit low, as you had him in the centre of your sight when he was outisde of convergence range.
