Here's a little information about the Pip-squeak system that has been added into the Storm of War Server (though isn't fully active yet), as I know that at least Hinkel was wondering what it was:

What does the pip-squeak do?
Once activated via the in-game tab menu, the Pip-squeak will send a message to Ground Control once every two minutes. This message will specify the following:
1. Your squadron
2. Your altitude
3. You grid on the map

When/ how is it de-activated?
1. the the player leaves the aircraft it wil shut off
2. when the player manually stops it via the menu, it will shut off

How does Ground Control get the information?
Currently, pasing the info onto Ground Control has not been implemented. This is WiP. We wanted to check that at least the correct type of information is being generated by the Pip-squeak, which it is.

Who should use the Pip-Squeak?
It is advisable that only 1 person from a squadron have their Pip-squeak activated at any one time (i.e. the flight commander at that time). This way, only one sinlge report will be revieced for each squadron.

So there you are, that's why it asks you if you're Red, Blue, Green or Yellow (I think) when you turn it on, as it's mainly for the leader (or designated... squeaker?) - presumably if we were split up and had sections in seperate places then one would select Red and the other Blue, for the section ID.

There's a Wikipedia page with more information about the real Pip-squeak system, but I was told never to reference Wikipedia, so find it yourself! Razz
