It's not exactly rocket science...
...well, not exactly.
My first Lunar landing in the game Kerbal Space Program, where you make your own rockets out of premade parts (like fuel tanks and wings and nose cones and ladders and all that guff) and send them about the universe for a laugh!
My capsule thingie is a bit tall though which makes it hard to land, I should probably make a lunar lander or some such, but then the Yanks would probably say I was copying them - and Wallace and Gromit didn't need no pesky lunar lander!

Lol Kerbals!
I've done some successful Mun missions, and did a mapsat mission to Duna.
My last project (haven't fired it up since Christmas) was an Eve probe, using the same rocket I used to get to Duna - but I'm struggling to get it into a stable orbit around Eve.
nice, I'll watch that vid when I get a few minutes. Did you get them back?

The logical step, captain, is to set up a 19 squadron starfleet branch.

Well Speedy, we have to find something to do with all the German Rocket Scientists we'll capture when we win the war.
And of course I got them back, Skip - Have to RTB you know, what kind of a Pilot do you take me for?
I've also been to the Mun and back again with Pegasus VII (Pegasus VI was a bit naff) which had a solar powered Mun buggy on top:
One of the solar panels broke due to my somewhat naff rocket powered buggy deployment system, but thankfully it has two - forward planning you see!
Other than that I've sent a rover (seems to be the fashion these days) to Minimus (the other Moon), but it seems a bit naff so I doubt I'll send anyone there:
And just sent my first probe to Duna (Lysander I - running out of fancy Greek names):
And last but not least of course, I've made the Tempest F1 Strike Fighter - just incase. Though there aren't any bombs, so it just drops fuel tanks on people instead:

There is a secret base on another continent on Kerbin you know, someone had a challenge on the forum to blow it up with a long range bomber.
You should be good at this, it's right up your aeronautical street.

Re: It's not exactly rocket science...
Aha! A Secret base! Must be those pesky Kerbunists no doubt.
Seems my Strike Fighter only has enough fuel to get just over half way there - I could bomb it but I wouldn't have enough fuel to get back, and that seems like a very American thing to do if you ask me.
If only the AI could fly aircraft I could use the docking system to make a mid-air refueling aircraft - but I guess I'll have to design a strategic bomber instead!

I like the way your Duna rocket is smaller than your Mun rocket. Delta V for the win!

The Duna Rocket has the advantage of not having to carry a crew, land, then return home again.

Here's my prototype strategic bomber, which is in no way what so ever a rip off of a certain cold war era nuclear bomber....
It has an operational ceiling of 55,000 feet and a maximum speed of 1800 mph, which is rather impressive!
Just a shame it's completely unstable and probably has even less range than my strike fighter.

Strike complete!
Using the newly upgraded Tempest F2 (which is exactly the same as the Tempest F1 other than that the canards are angled 5 degrees up for better trim) and with the addition of external fuel drop tanks, the heroic Royal Kerbal Air Force carried out a maximum range deep strike against the dastardly Kerbunist rocket base!
There's <Insert bad guy country>. And you can have it!
Gillibrand, break for the fjord!
(Note the remaining fuel quantity!)
Well, at least the rockets won't happen.

Re: It's not exactly rocket science...
Invented a new V Bomber (Vigilant B.1 Mk II to be precise!) with the help of a few mods.
Bomb doors can be a bit sticky though...
Noo'klar combat toe-to-toe with the kerbunists!

Re: It's not exactly rocket science...
MjDixon,
Did you have time to look at KSP 20.2 yet?
Ive downloaded it, along with pirated weapons (something like that mod), and B9-aerospace, mod. Something that was also very helpful was the lazorsystems and the lazor weapons mods as well. Even able to make things float or hover above the ground a certain distance.
With the B-9 Aerospace mod, you get aircraft that looks like a mix between a strategic bomber (b-52) and a spaceshuttle. Long range trips with the engines and fuel tanks make prolonged flight fun. With lazorsystems mod, you can actually tell the aircraft to fly to 20,000ft to a specific point on the map.
I hope to have some pics up soon, as i suck at building rockets, might as well fly halfway to atmosphere then launch em there

Re: It's not exactly rocket science...
Great Video Compilation MJ also got me the same add-ons for ksp 22 as well. Have been having a bit of success finally having been able to land on the Mun and minimus, the others are still a little bit outside my rockets capabilities even with asparagus staging.
I was wondering do you guys still play falcon 4 often? I had to install windows 7 on my pc all over again, after my wife cursed the pc with the ole blue screen of death...

We haven't really played Falcon 4 for a while now, mostly concentrating on WW2OL and Rise of Flight as Skip is the resident Falcon 4 expert, but has been busy of late.
