Righto Speedy.
Guess we better update if we want to play it tommorow.
Good to see some progress on some proper large scale ships:

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Wonder if I can get this to work in Star Citizen.
Brian Blessed, Tom Baker or Holly from Red Dwarf? That is the question.
Or this for Speedy's Space BMW:
Also, 2.3 has gone live.

The MISC Starfarer Tanker is currently available in everyone's Hangar, and will be for a few days, if you want to have a look around it - though it isn't flyable yet.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Seeing as I spent a sufficiently large amount of money to get a ship that is big enough to justify having it's own name, I thought I better make a crest to go with it.

The ship could also do with an illustrated pin-up model as a lucky charm. Plenty of artists doing commissions at deviantArt

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
The main highlight was a live demo of Alpha 3.0 of the Persistent Universe:
3.0 is supposed to be released before the end of the year, but we shall see - it adds:
Debut of Planetary Tech
Expanding the Stanton System:
ArcCorp
Hurston
Microtech
Crusader
Delamar
New Space Stations, moons, and Asteroid belts
Basic Professions:
Trading
Cargo Transport
Piracy
Mercenary
Bounty Hunting
Mission System
Item Port (Better control of items in game, for example context sensitive options for ship systems, rather than just the big USE button)
New Netcode (i.e. higher FPS, like in Arena Commander)
NPC AI Subsumption (AI that do stuff based on the time of day and the like)
Before that they'll release 2.6, which will (finally) add the Star Marine FPS mode, like a ground version of Arena Commander.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
I've been meaning to ask this for some time now. Have I sealed my SC character's fate by joining an organised squadron that I'm guessing will be on the side of anti-pirates? What I'm saying is, will I be able to try out things (like piracy) that might run contrary to the corporation's mission? Perhaps I'm thinking too much along the lines of EVE Online.
Also, something completely irrelevant. Do you guys play Cities: Skylines? I'm looking for an alternative to the last SimCity, that game is so broken, I'm totally done with it.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
I guess it depends on if they let you make more than one character, and no I don't play Cities: Skylines, but am planning on getting it in the next Steam sale, it's supposed to be quite good.

Cities Skylines Deluxe is on a 75% sale at the Paradox store.
I've also been thinking of going back to Simcity 4, which I found to be the best in the series, having played all of the previous games. There are plenty of mods for it too.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
I'm afraid I've had to promote myself from Lieutenant to Lieutenant Commander to match up with the UEENR rank structure.
It's a hard sacrifice, but someone has to do it.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
The UEENR Brass have released a Naval Code of Conduct:
So don't be naughty.
No Discrimination
Discrimination on the basis of gender, race, sexual orientation, species (in the case of our Tevarin members) or any other attribute outside of a persons control is not acceptable under any circumstance.
No Politics
Politics are highly diversive and as such an extreme risk to our unit cohesion consequently political discussion, slogans, logos and ship naming is prohibited.
Uphold and obey the laws of the Empire
As representatives of the UEE it is our duty to uphold and obey it’s laws. crucial to this is the adherence to the UEENR’s strict rules of engagement.
Set an example of excellence
All members of the Reserve are responsible for upholding the high level of respect and trust placed in us by both the Empire and the people who live within it. As such in any interaction with other branches of government or civilians you will be considered ambassadors of the reserve and expected to impart an impression of professionalism and competence.
So don't be naughty.
