Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Patch 2.1 has been released, which (hopefully) adds some performance improvements to the Crusader large-scale map, and adds the Aegis Vanguard Deep Space Fighter and MISC Freelancer Cargo Ship as flyable.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Razy and I managed to do a session on the Crusader map after waiting a while to connect to the same server, the game was pretty laggy but we actually managed to do some stuff and exit the game, rather than it crashing.

2.1.1 is live now, so remember to patch if you want to try Star Citizen on Sunday.

According to the latest count the UEENR have 2 Javelin Class Destroyers and 6 Idris Class Frigates.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Seems there was a smaller patch (2.1.2) since we last played, so might want to update again if you want to play Star Citizen at some point.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Uh oh, Star Citizen is getting interest from proper media establishments - it's obviously getting too mainstream, I'll have to find an obscure eastern european space sim to play now instead!
(Interestingly, of the games I play most - CloD is/was Russian, RoF is/was Russian, BoS is Russian, ArmA is Czech, Naval Action is Ukrainian and Graviteam Tactics is also Ukrainian...)
A pretty good and balanced report though, which makes a change as far as most Star Citizen reports go.

Nice to know that 1000 years in the future Fighter Pilots still wear sheepskin flying jackets.

Maybe they'll add cravats as a stretch goal.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
The new 2.2 patch has gone live this morning:
Patch Notes
The main changes in this one are:
Party System Revamp: When joining a Universe as part of a group the server will reserve slots for the rest of the group for two minutes, so you can all join the same server.
Crime System: They've added a GTA style 5 star wanted system, that will make you hostile to AI security forces and eventually place a bounty on you that other players can collect, they've also changed the way the communication satellites work, as now they monitor the space around them, and can be turned on/off to make crimes noticable or not.
Improved EVA: They've improved the physics and animations of the EVA to better react when flying near walls or crashing into them, etc.
Sabre Flyable: The Aegis Dynamics Sabre Medium Fighter is now flyable.
With the new party system we should be able to do some group stuff on the Crusader Universe server, which I guess we'll try out some time next week, or next Sunday.
Remember to delete your USER folder (Program Files\Cloud Imperium Games\StarCitizen\Public\USER) when updating as if you don't it can make things go wonkier than usual.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
Nice
I tried SC a couple of times on my new PC and it is actually playable now! rather than a slideshow. I just need to remap all of my controls, if I can remember what the hell they all do. I did notice track IR no longer works, I guess that is the same for everyone??

Aye, TrackIR was broken in 2.0, though there is a way to get some tracking, using this workaround, but it's not as accurate as native TrackIR support:
TrackIR Workaround
Not sure if TrackIR works in 2.2, but I'd imagine they'd mention if it was fixed.
I particularly liked this part of the patch notes, Speedy:
SCM speeds have been increased for the... Gladius
SCM speeds have been decreased for the... 325a, 315p and 300i.

Well we all know the game is anti german-space ship engineering.

We only like german-space ship engineering when it has a NASA label on it remember.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
SoW Server is likely to be down until Thursday or so due to some issues from the test mission, as such I think we should try out Star Citizen 2.2 on Tuesday.
(Saying that I thought we should anyway, but the SoW Server being down is another excuse. )

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
well with 2gb left to download the launcher crashed and now I can't even start it anymore without getting an error. Will see what i can do tonight but i guess i will have to uninstall and download from scratch again. As my internet limit has about 8gb left that will not be possible for today i guess.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
If I were you, I'd copy the Cloud Imperium Games\StarCitizen\Public\Data folder before reinstalling (presuming you need to reinstall), then after reinstalling copy the folder back in, and try again - as hopefully it won't redownload those files, I'm also assuming the Data folder is the one where the patch stuff goes.

Re: Star Citizen / Squadron 42
There's been a small bug fix patch release, and by small I mean as far as Star Citizen goes, which is to say about 5 GB.
